Welcome to Nanorater. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using Nanorater.

Information Collection and Use

We collect the following types of data to provide the service:

1. Account Information

2. Photos You Upload (and Generated Outputs)

   • What We Collect: The photo(s) you choose to upload and the generated outputs such as annotated images and text feedback.

   • What We Collect: Information about how you use Nanorater, including your interactions, features accessed, and usage frequency.
   • Purpose: To analyze user engagement and improve our services.

4. Device Information

   • What We Collect: Data regarding the devices you use to access Nanorater, such as device type, operating system, and browser type.
   • Purpose: To optimize our services for different devices and ensure compatibility.

5. Cookies

   • What We Collect: Small data files placed on your device that help us track user preferences and improve user experience.
   • Purpose: To enhance the functionality of our services and personalize your experience.

6. Payment and Billing Information

   • What We Collect: Order and payment status, product, and transaction identifiers. Payment providers handle payment-method details during checkout.
   • Purpose: To facilitate billing and payment processing for our services.

On-Device Face Measurements and Optional Sharing

Several free tools (the instant face map, the photo check, the face shape, golden ratio and PSL pages) run in your browser. Your photo is not uploaded for them. To run them, your browser downloads a face-detection model from Nanorater and a small code file from a public content delivery network (jsDelivr), which receives the standard details of the request, such as your IP address.

After a result you can choose to share your measurements. This is optional, happens only when you click the button, and applies to one photo at a time. If you do, we store about a dozen numbers computed from your photo (for example how evenly the two sides mirror, how the face divides into thirds and fifths, its length-to-width ratio, and the head tilt and turn), which tool you used, which version of the reference set you saw, whether the photo met the reliability limits, and the time. We do not store the photo, your name, email address, account identifier, IP address or cookies with it. We use these anonymous numbers only to improve the reference sets the tools compare against. Because they carry nothing that identifies you, we cannot find or delete a single contribution later.

Retention and Deletion

Uploads and generated outputs are stored to display your results and account history. We do not currently promise a fixed automatic deletion period. Self-service deletion is not currently available. Contact support@nanorater.com to request deletion of uploads, outputs, or account data; we will review the request and explain any limits before handling it.

Training and Model Improvement

We use uploads to generate the feedback and images you request. Storage and AI providers process these uploads as part of the service. We do not operate a model-training workflow using uploaded photos; third-party processing is subject to the providers’ policies, and we do not promise that every provider has the same retention or training terms.

Not for Minors

Nanorater is intended for adults. Do not upload photos of minors.

Data Storage and Security

Account records are protected by authentication and access controls. Uploaded and generated image files are served through image URLs: anyone who has a file URL can access that image. These URLs are not a private-file access boundary. Share links only when you are comfortable with others viewing the image. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties, except in the following circumstances:

• To comply with legal obligations or respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
• To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others.
• To provide services through trusted third-party partners who assist us in operating our website or conducting our business, including storage and AI processing providers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "effective date" at the top of this policy. You are advised to review this privacy policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this privacy policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
