Who we are

Nanorater is the brand name of nanorater.com, an independent software product that gives people honest, specific feedback on their photos. You can reach us any time at support@nanorater.com.

What Nanorater does

Upload a photo of your face, a profile picture, a headshot, an outfit or a side profile, and Nanorater tells you how that photo comes across and what to change on the next one. The feedback looks at things you can see and fix: light, camera angle, framing, expression, background and styling.

It works in two layers:

• An instant face map in your browser. Your browser measures the geometry of the photo (mirror balance, thirds, fifths and length-to-width) in about a second. The photo is not uploaded for this, no account is needed and there is no limit on how many photos you try. The same engine powers our free face shape detector, golden ratio face calculator and PSL scale rater.
• An AI photo score. When you ask for it, a vision AI model scores the photo out of 100 against a published rubric and explains the visible reasons, so you can see what moved the number. Your first result needs no sign-up.

How we think about ratings

• A score is about the photo, not about you. Light, lens and expression change a photo a lot, so two pictures of the same person can score far apart. We say so on the result.
• We show our working. Formulas, reference sets and accuracy figures are printed on the tools, and we say what a tool cannot tell you.
• Specific beats harsh. Every result points to something you can change, such as moving to a window, lifting the camera to eye level or relaxing your expression.
• No beauty verdicts. Nanorater does not rank people, and it is not medical, cosmetic or psychological advice.

Your photos and data

Uploads are used to generate the results you ask for. We do not run a model-training workflow on uploaded photos. The on-device tools keep your photo in your browser, and sharing anonymous measurements to improve our reference sets is always optional. The details, including retention and deletion, are in our privacy policy.
